Lower Your Home Heating System to Save Money

During the fall and winter months you can save 1-3% just by turning turning down the heat 1 degree. It’s a fact that by putting on an extra layer such as along sleeve shirt or a comfy fleece sweatshirt can warm you up by 2 to 4 degrees without having to turn up the thermostat. Do you leave the thermostat at the same levels while you are occupying the house and when you are out of the house? Imagine the savings you would receive each month if you turned the heat down by 4 to 5 degrees when you are at work or while running errands. Think about that for a second, why do you need to keep the heat up at higher levels when no one is occupying the house? Who are you overheating the house for?
