Do you know what carbon footprint means? It doesn’t have anything to do with a footprint left by Sasquatch, in fact it’s a eco friendly term which means the total set of GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions caused directly and indirectly by an individual, organization, event or product. Almost everything you do throughout the day increases your carbon footprint including turning on your coffee maker, driving your car around town, or flying in an airplane for business or pleasure. How can you reduce your overall carbon footprint? Take a look at the following steps and see if any of these apply to you and your daily activities.

-	Get smart about energy efficiency. In fact being energy efficient is the least expensive way to reduce your carbon footprint just by turning down your thermostat two degrees in the winter and up two degrees in summer will save 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide.

-	Purchase compact fluorescent light bulbs.

-	Install a solar panel system for your home. It’s a huge upfront cost, but within about 5-7 years, the solar panels would pay for themselves.

-	Walk or ride a bicycle on short trips around town.

These simple efforts can help the environment and reduce your overall carbon footprint which will help cut greenhouse gases. If you are looking to cut emissions from your personal use, please visit Carbonfootprint.com.
