Are you getting ready to wrap gifts this season or do you have some winter birthday gifts that need wrapping? Why not get creative and re-use materials for your gift wrapping to go green with your gifts. First off, if you have kids that are adored by your family members why not use some of their artwork from school or their drawings they do while at home? This would be the perfect family oriented gift wrapping solution that will put a smile on that relative as well as getting your kids involved in adding their own personal touch. If you are traveling during the holiday season, why not use some old maps that are laying around, this is without a doubt a creative idea that costs nothing and it will surely make your gift stand out and talked about for many years to come. These are just some gift wrapping ideas that will help you reuse old paper or materials around the house without you having to go out to the store and buy new paper which only costs you money and it also means more trees are cut down which is very unfriendly to the environment.

During the fall and winter months you can save 1-3% just by turning turning down the heat 1 degree. It’s a fact that by putting on an extra layer such as along sleeve shirt or a comfy fleece sweatshirt can warm you up by 2 to 4 degrees without having to turn up the thermostat. Do you leave the thermostat at the same levels while you are occupying the house and when you are out of the house? Imagine the savings you would receive each month if you turned the heat down by 4 to 5 degrees when you are at work or while running errands. Think about that for a second, why do you need to keep the heat up at higher levels when no one is occupying the house? Who are you overheating the house for?

On top of insulating your water heater it’s also recommended that you set your water heater thermostat to 120 farenheit, in fact every 10 degrees farenheit reduction in the temperature you could save 3–5% on your water heating costs.
