As of 1997 figures, the average American household continuously leaks about 50 watts of electricity.  Eliminating that would save at least $1 billion a year in wasted electricity.

One easy method to detect and examine the amount of electricity your devices use is the Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor Turn off your power strip, save $$$.  I am currently performing an audit on some of my household appliances and I must say I’m a bit suprised by some of the results.  Upon completion I will post the results for you, but I would love to hear about some of your results now in the comments section.
